Finalists Announced For Top 200
Awards
The finalists have been announced for this year's
Deloitte/Management Magazine Top 200 Awards, with Company of
the Year nominees Datacom, Delegat's Group and the Port of
Tauranga competing for top honours.
The winner will be
announced at the Top 200 Awards dinner being held at SkyCity
Convention Centre on Thursday December 4.
In other categories, Chief Executives' Rob Fyfe from Air New Zealand, Don Braid from Mainfreight and Sam Knowles of Kiwibank are the top three vying for Executive of the Year, while Brian Corban (Genesis), Tony Gibbs (Tower) and Geoff Ricketts (Lion Nathan) have been nominated for Chairman of the Year.
A total of nine awards will be presented next week in categories such as Best Growth Strategy and Most Improved Company, including the annual announcement of the Top 200's Visionary Leader.
Reg Birchfield, director of 3media Group, publishers of NZ Management magazine, believes the awards are particularly relevant when New Zealand business is facing uncertainty and difficult times.
“We have been celebrating management, leadership and business achievement at these awards for 19 years and have experienced the many changes in New Zealand's fortunes,” says Birchfield. “The current world economic crisis presents the biggest challenge New Zealand enterprise has ever faced. But every year we see Kiwi qualities of ingenuity, innovation and creativity shine through in the success stories of our winners. They have that ability to lift performance to another level and New Zealand's economic future will surely be dependent on our ability to do the same.”
The awards coincide with the publication of NZ Management magazine's annual Top 200 list of New Zealand companies. The judges chose their finalists and winners from this list.
