Thousands Of Toys Destined For Kids In Need This Christmas
The Warehouse launches new online initiative to raise thousands of toy donations for KidsCan this Christmas.
Today celebrities and kids gathered in the New Market Warehouse for a celebratory breakfast to launch the unique online charity initiative Click for Kids. The initiative will see The Warehouse donate thousands of toys to kids in need this Christmas their partnership with charity KidsCan.
KidsCan gives kids a hand up to help level the playing field, providing basics such as food and shoes to remove barriers to learning and give children the start they deserve at school and in life.
“It’s been a tough year for families, so it’s fantastic to be able to give extra toys to kids this Christmas. We’re already working with Schools who will be able to identify kids and families who would appreciate this support” says Founder and General Manager Julie Helson.
The Warehouse has committed to supporting KidsCan by donating the toys via its website. The public are urged to go to www.thewarehouse.co.nz/clickforkids and simply click on the limited time Click for Kids page to help donate. Each click counts for a point; for example a box of crayons might be worth three points, and a doll might be worth five points.
Warehouse CEO Ian Morrice explains;
“Every click will count towards toys, and people will be able to track the Click for Kids progress by watching the donations grow. We’re aiming to donate 2,000 toys in two weeks. Ultimately everything under our roof is great value, so it won’t take long for us to donate a lot of toys.”
To get things ‘clicking’, a number of famous faces have been invited to a festive breakfast where they will be invited to select a toy they’d like to donate, some of the celebrities and their chosen toys will then be featured on the new Click for Kids website page.
WORLD Designer Denise L’Estrange-Corbet says she already has her eye on something special; a Barbie Dress for ages 4 - 6 called ‘Mariposa Butterfly’,
“I chose the Mariposa Barbie as Christmas is so exciting for children and dressing up in a gorgeous outfit for the day makes you feel like a real Princess.
