Clearview named top NZ accommodation in Japanese
magazine
Christchurch’s Clearview Lodge has been named the top accommodation place in New Zealand according to a glossy Japanese magazine Rurubu.
The magazine published by the Japanese Tourism Bureau is a travel guide for people who want to visit NZ.
Clearview Lodge was named tops in accommodation selected by the magazine, ahead of places like Millbrook Resort, Heritage Hotel & spa Du Vin and Dunedin’s Corstorphine House.
The article talks about Clearview Lodge’s Robin and Sue Clements are great hosts and it also mentions their expansive garden, vineyard and orchard.
``At Clearview Lodge, one can totally relax surrounded by glossy greenery,’’ the article says.
``The lodge is located in about 10 acres of a winery. With hospitality and kindness overflowing from the hosts, they welcome you to their resort with smiles that touch the bottom of one’s heart. There are three rooms, each with their individual theme: pinot noir, olives and apples which have a colour scheme which extends to the walls and garden. At a nearby golf course (Clearwater golf resort), 18 holes can be enjoyed for NZ$130.

Clearview Lodge owner Robin Clements said
it was fantastic that Clearview Lodge was featured in the
highly regarded publication. Clements is also an economic
consultant, being a senior economist for UBS Investment Bank
and economist for The Press quarterly Mainland
Monitor.
``We are just pleased to be recognised. It can be only good for our business and good for NZ tourism,’’ he said.
Clearview Lodge makes its own pinot noir and rose wine. They also make pinot noir and quince jelly. Sue Clements also makes make jams and jellies from the orchard fruits. They have raspberries, strawberries, and lemons for lemon curd, red and black currants for eating and also plums and apricots.
Other produce includes cherries, feijoas, greengages, nectarines, peaches and blueberries for eating or baking. They have walnuts and apples.
Clearview Lodge has been taking guests since 2001.
