Life Pharmacy & Clinique Unveil New Zealand’s First ‘Clinique Experience’ Counter In Westfield St Lukes - Just In Time For Summer
The Clinique Service Centre at Westfield St Lukes has been transformed into New Zealand’s first “Clinique Experience” counter, featuring four Clinique Diagnostic Mirrors just in time for summer skin care assessment.
Initially used in the private practice of Dr Norman Orentreich, Clinique’s original guiding dermatologist, the mirror allowed him to better see his patient’s skin and in turn, show the client key concerns such as oiliness, dryness, enlarged pores, lines, discolouration and breakouts. Now, Clinique consultants have been educated to replicate this in their consultations to provide a deeper understanding of each client’s concerns.
The diagnostic mirrors, the first in the country, allow the Clinique consultants to better see the client’s skin concern through a magnified side whilst the client sees their reflection as they would in a normal mirror, enhancing two-way communication.
Tracey Pedersen, National Education Manager for Clinique in New Zealand predicts the diagnostic mirrors will be extremely valuable in the coming summer months:
‘The sun is the main problem for our skin causing up to 90 per cent of all damage. Whether it be pigmentation, premature aging or dehydration, the mirrors will help our consultants to accurately identify the areas of concern and recommend the most beneficial products.
‘The St Lukes team is delighted to have the first ‘Clinique Experience’ counter in New Zealand. With summer approaching, it is so important to get the right sun protection for your skin type and lifestyle,’ Tracey adds.
Since the condition of skin often changes, particularly with the seasons, Tracey believes it is the ideal time to get a skin assessment. Most people mis-diagnose their skin and consequently use the wrong products on it, so getting a free consultation is a very effective way of finding out what’s right for you.
‘Many skins are oilier in summer and dryer in the winter. At Clinique we will skin-type clients regularly to pick up on these changes and adjust our recommendations accordingly,’ explains Tracey. ‘The diagnostic mirrors are a valuable part of this process.’
In addition to the diagnostic mirrors, the Service Centre has been redesigned to focus on the consultation process. The testers now sit at eye level for easy access and products are stored away to avoid clutter.
In 2007, Clinique began rolling out a new Consultant Education Programme, created in co-operation with dermatologists from the Weill Cornell Department of Dermatology and the Orentreich Medical Group. As part of this ongoing commitment to education, Clinique has developed a new consultation accreditation program.
‘There are 3 accredited Consultants at St Lukes Service Centre who have long service with Clinique and have between them won many awards. As part of Life Pharmacy, the team also has access to a qualified pharmacist to give their advice if need be.’
‘It’s all about effective products and great advice,’ says Tracey. ‘This initiative is just another step towards our goal of giving our clients the best results and service.’
