Mainland Press Acquires Buy Sell & Exchange

Privately owned Mainland Press has purchased classified newspaper Buy Sell & Exchange and Car Dealer Canterbury from ACP Media’s Trader Group Division for an undisclosed sum.

The sale takes effect immediately with the first editions of January 2009 being published by Mainland Press.

Pier Smulders, Managing Director of Mainland Press says “We are delighted to be bringing Buy Sell and Exchange and The Car Dealer – titles which are both Canterbury icons – back into local ownership. We plan to reinvigorate Buy Sell and Exchange as the place to go for the best value in Canterbury, and offer our readers a revamped and new look product. Integrating The Car Dealer magazine into our business will allow us to continue to help our clients in the automotive market to build their businesses, by providing a competitive, locally owned advertising medium that supports local automotive retailers. We will continue to focus on offering value and quality.”

Mainland Press publishes four community newspapers in greater Christchurch as well as Best Motorbuys weekly magazine.

Adrian Pickstock, General Manager of Trader Group said that the titles were no longer a strategic fit with the business. The titles would fit comfortably into Mainland Press’s growing portfolio of community and motoring publications.
