Vector Arena appoints Business Development Manager

Business Development Manager Paula Ross’ first day on the job at Vector Arena was a frantic one – culminating in seeing the arena in action during a sold out show for hip hop superstar Kanye West.

“It was just amazing to see because the last time I came to Vector Arena was for the public opening as a proud Aucklander, and then last month there was a world-class act practically every other day and plenty of functions,” she says.

Miss Ross has been working overseas for the past year, most recently at the Beijing Olympics. She was a coach hostess for Lenovo, one of the major sponsors, and had to ensure corporate guests and their families had an excellent time.

That topped off nine years in sales and marketing, and before that 12 in hospitality, including two years as a commi and demi chef at Cin Cin on Quay. Miss Ross has also been the sales and client relationship manager for Health and Human Performance, a corporate health and wellbeing company, and a new business development manager for Telecom.

Her new role as Business Development Manager at Vector Arena will see her focusing on concerts to corporate hospitality and everything in between.

“The possibilities are endless - the arena floor can be transformed for galas or conferences, and our other function rooms for private events, meetings and seminars, or for corporate hospitality before a concert,” she says.

For example, the Vodafone New Zealand Music Awards and Rodney Wayne’s 60th birthday celebrations were held at Vector Arena late last year, as well as the TelstraClear launch of NextIP, which saw Che Fu on stage together with his holographic self.

“It is literally the biggest dining space in Auckland City, our exclusive caterers Delaware North are on site and I know have a team that is experienced with large scale events that deliver the finest outcome every time, no matter how big or small the occasion,” says Miss Ross.

Vector Arena Chief Executive, Guy Ngata, is delighted with the appointment of the new Business Development Manager.

“Paula has a very strong background in sales, marketing and hospitality, which is critical to the success of the role. Like the rest of our team she is passionate about people, and about giving them exceptional customer service,” he says.
