Straight 8 Sees Tangible Benefits

More high profile magazine rationalisation is announced this week, as the addition of three more titles takes Tangible Media’s consumer magazine portfolio to nine.

The publishing interests of Straight 8 are to be merged into the recently created Tangible Media. This was announced today by Dave Atkins, CEO of Image Centre (Tangible’s parent company), and Allan Dick, Owner of Straight 8.

This means three more publications will be incorporated with the new group announced late last year, formed by the roll up of Image Centre Publishing and Jones Publishing. Driver, Classic Driver and NZ Today will join Dish, Top Gear NZ, NZ Rugby World, NZ Fishing World, Real Groove, Groove Guide and a number of customer magazines.

“We currently print and produce the Straight 8 magazines along with more than 50 other titles through our print-hall, design studio and pre-media divisions.” said Dave Atkins, “This move further extends our strategy of putting common resources together to achieve economies of scale and add significantly to our offering to advertisers.”

“The directors of Tangible have a real vision for the future of local special interest magazines, and I am excited by the very real opportunities this move gives Driver, Classic Driver and NZ Today,” said Allan Dick.

Founded in 1989, Image Centre has been a highly successful print, pre-press and interactive communications company and recently been the subject of a management buyout, led by Dave Atkins, former adman Mike Hutcheson, and company director Maurice Kidd. “Looking ahead in the short term we think organic growth will be difficult, so strategically, mergers and acquisitions will be key to our future success.” said Atkins.
