Ecostore’s green credentials turn platinum

MEDIA RELEASE

Ecostore’s green credentials turn platinum

ecostore has announced its production facility, Ecotech Solutions, is the first New Zealand producer of cleaning and personal care products to attain Enviro-Mark®NZ – Platinum certification.

This is significant because it provides consumers with confidence in the environmental credibility of ecostore’s production facility.

Enviro-Mark®NZ is an environmental management solution developed, marketed and supported throughout New Zealand by Landcare Research.

Charlie Bartlett, Enviro-Mark®NZ’s Programme Manager, says ecostore’s manufacturing facility attained platinum status in record time.

“The team at Ecotech Solutions, ecostore’s production facility, has made exceptional progress and now has an independently certified environmental management system (EMS).

“They are really focused on developing the most robust EMS possible and were certainly one of the fastest organisations in the programme’s history to achieve platinum status, which is really impressive,” he says.

Mitch Cuevas, ecostore’s Chief Executive Australasia, says the business benefits are cost savings, better environmental management and certification integrity.

“There are some dubious eco-labels on the market and ecostore has a long and proud history as being a pioneer in environmental formulations and enabling daily practices in sustainability for consumers.

“We felt it was critical when choosing a certification partner to align our brand with the country’s most reputable and robust eco-certification process.

“Our desire is to give both our customers and end consumers’ greater confidence in the environmental credibility of ecostore’s products,” he says.

Tony Morpeth, General Manager of Ecotech Solutions, says it is imperative that as the producers of ecostore’s trusted range of environmentally friendly products they ensure their production facility reflects ecostore’s commitment to the environment.

“When consumers see the Enviro-Mark®NZ – Platinum logo on ecostore’s packaging they can feel assured that they are supporting a New Zealand company that truly has their best interests, and that of the environment, at heart,” he says.

Platinum–level certification is achieved through a third–party audit, which also includes the previous three levels (Bronze, Silver and Gold).

All of ecostore’s products that are made in New Zealand by Ecotech Solutions have been produced at their certified Enviro-Mark® – Platinum-level facility.

About Enviro-Mark®NZ

Enviro-Mark® was developed in the United Kingdom to provide an Environmental Management System (EMS) accessible to all organisations. In 2001 Landcare Research, a Crown Research Institute, secured the New Zealand licence for Enviro-Mark. The tool has been adapted for use in this country and registered as Enviro-Mark®NZ.

Enviro-Mark®NZ provides businesses with a framework to systematically assess their performance against agreed standards. Achievement of each standard is verified by an external audit to provide complete objectivity in the certification process.
