New Era for RSA Club Support
Today marks the beginning of a new era with Mr David Williams taking up the newly created position of Manager – Business Gaming and Licensing at RNZRSA National Headquarters. The new position will provide support to RSA clubs.
David’s hospitality experience includes ten years managing hotels for both Lion and Dominion Breweries. He was subsequently appointed to the position of Area Manager, Wellington, for Lion Breweries. Mr Williams’s career of late has included six years as a successful restaurant owner/operator in Wellington and four years as Club Manager at the Wainuiomata RSA.
“My latest role provided me with a wonderful insight into both the management of a Club and into the RSA movement as a whole,” said Mr Williams. “At Wainuiomata we identified the importance of a quality food operation as a means to attract new members and grow our Club and as a consequence a new $600,000 restaurant was developed and successfully opened in April last year.”
“David brings a wealth of experience in the hospitality sector combined with a keen understanding of what the RSA is all about,” said Chief Executive Stephen Clarke. “He is ideally positioned not only to assist RSAs with their day-to-day enquiries but to provide support for the future development and growth of our clubs.”
“The RSAs, their club facilities and place in the communities is core to our future renewal and to our ability to continue to play a significant role in local communities nationwide; whether in the area of veteran welfare, youth support or a myriad of other community projects.”
National President Mr Robin Klitscher says that, “For some time we have seen the need to provide solid in-house help in the business side of our activities. The difficulty has been how best to do it. Late last year a first-class opportunity arose, and we had to seize it. David Williams brings long and relevant experience to the post, and will play a pivotal role as we shape ourselves for the 21st Century and beyond.”
Mr Williams is looking forward to assisting RSA Clubs going forward.
“It is an exciting time to be involved with the RSA and I feel that my experience, together with the skills that I have developed, will assist in guiding us all through what I am sure will prove to be an interesting future,” said Mr Williams.
