Latest News

Enter Now for Karaka's 2009 National Weanling, Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale

Entries for the 2009 New Zealand Bloodstock National Weanling, Broodmare &Mixed Bloodstock Sale are now being accepted, with entries closing Wednesday 4 March.

Last year saw the reuniting of the National Weanling Sale and National Broodmare & Mixed Bloodstock Sale with successful results, the highlight being the record weanling session clearance rate of 89%. With the steady growth to this market in New Zealand, the weanlings posted a healthy average price of $13,757 in 2008.

The broodmares are also benefitting from the Sale's re-scheduling (from July in 2007) and re-formatting. The broodmares achieved a clearance rate of 78% with the average price for a broodmare at the Sale in 2008, $12,077.

This year's Sale will take place at Karaka on 4, 5 & 6 May, a week earlier than last year.

Once again the weanlings will be offered first then, in a change from last year, the broodmares followed by yearlings, two-year-olds, unraced horses, raced horses, stallions and stallion shares.

New Zealand Bloodstock's 2009 National Weanling, Broodmare, and Mixed Bloodstock Sale will have a reduced entry fee of $500+GST for all entries.

The online catalogue will be available from Wednesday 1 April.
