New Zealand technology on show in Germany
Media release: New Zealand technology on show in Germany
2 March 2009: For the fifth consecutive year, some of New Zealand’s best and brightest ICT companies are in Germany this week for CeBIT – the world’s largest technology trade show
Ten New Zealand companies ranging from interactive multimedia technologies to space-saving miniature server rooms to voice recognition and business intelligence software will showcase their latest solutions at the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE)-coordinated New Zealand pavilion at CeBIT in Hannover, Germany.
Set over a whopping 25 halls, CeBIT 2009 will feature 4300 exhibitors from 69 countries. Hundreds of thousands of visitors are expected over six days (3-8 March).
“CeBIT is a really exciting show featuring everything and anything to do with technology,” says NZTE’s ICT Sector Director Hans Frauenlob. “It offers New Zealand businesses a single location to meet those all important business contacts, an opportunity to better understand how to market and sell their products, and to see what other companies around the world are doing so that they can benchmark their products and technologies against what else is out there.
“Last year CeBIT attracted 5800 exhibitors and some 495,000 visitors, and while this year will be slightly smaller due to the economic climate, CeBIT remains a leading international technology event and an important avenue for New Zealand companies to showcase their products and services to a captive audience actively looking for new products, services and business partnerships.
“It is more important than ever for New Zealand ICT companies to demonstrate that they have the cost-effective, cost-saving IT solutions that customers are looking for.”
The New Zealand Pavilion, complete with distinctive New Zealand branding, provides the backdrop for the 10 companies exhibiting, and a venue for all important business meetings. It features interactive touch screen displays that provide detailed information about the companies exhibiting and New Zealand’s wider ICT capabilities.
This year the stand will feature another demonstration of NZ innovation in the form of a touch screen ‘coffee table’ that combines the touch screen capabilities of NextWindow with Fingertapps technology, who are both exhibiting at the show. The ‘coffee table’ will display information about the New Zealand exhibitors as well as games and multimedia demonstrations. A special feature is the dynamic orientation: the content shown on the table changes orientation depending on what side of table you are standing on, making it easy to share and discuss content from any angle.
In addition to the show itself, participating companies have the opportunity to attend networking events designed to directly connect them with prospective partners in selected European markets.
The New Zealand Pavilion will feature: Bluewater Systems, Cortexo, Fingertapps, Flo2Cash, Information Edge, NextWindow, RPM Retail, TracMap, Thureon and WinScribe. Immigration New Zealand and Air New Zealand will also feature at the stand.
