Taranaki-based Mortgage Express broker wins national
award
12 March 2009 – Taranaki-based mortgage broker Kerry Kelly of Mortgage Express, which is 90% owned by Harcourts International, has won the prestigious Sovereign Mortgage Adviser of the Year award.
Ms Kelly, who established Mortgage Express in Taranaki two years ago in partnership with the local Harcourts franchise Taranaki Property Specialists, was presented with her award at the annual Professional Advisors Association Awards held in Rotorua recently.
A former top real estate sales consultant in the United Kingdom with more than five years’ experience as a mortgage broker, , Ms Kelly says she is thrilled to have won the Sovereign Mortgage Advisor of the Year Award.
“When I started up Mortgage Express in Taranaki I set myself the goal of making the company’s Top 10 and I ended up reaching number three within Mortgage Express last year which was great. To have gone on to win this award is a great achievement, especially as it’s a national honour bestowed upon me by my peers in recognition of my success,” she says.
Ms Kelly, who in addition to working as a mortgage broker also manages two mortgage brokers and an insurance advisor, is based four days a week in a Mortgage Express/Insurance Express office in New Plymouth shared with Harcourts Property Management team, while one day a week she is based in the Harcourts Hawera office, which is operated by Shane and Annette Rowe.
Acknowledging her success could not have been achieved without the involvement of her colleagues Lisa Weston and Tracey McEldowney, Ms Kelly says she thoroughly enjoys providing assistance to Harcourts clients and others who need assistance with mortgages. “I get a real buzz out of helping people to get the best, most appropriate deal,” she says.
Entrants for the national Mortgage Brokers of the Year award have to be qualified and registered mortgage brokers with a proven history. They are required to offer a full range of products, deal with a minimum of six major financial institutions and are also required to carry $1 million in professional indemnity insurance. Judged by senior financial advisors the awards honour practitioners for their track record, their commitment to excellence and the part they play in supporting the community in which they live and serve.
Mortgage Express CEO Andrew L’Almont says the PAA awards are designed to recognise the cream of the crop in the financial advisory industry.
“So to receive this award is a fantastic achievement by Kerry, who in a relatively short time in the industry has established a great reputation for the expert assistance and top quality customer service she provides, which in turn generates a high volume of repeat and referral business.”
Taranaki Property Specialists Principal John Christiansen agrees, saying that having Harcourts business associate Kerry Kelly of Mortgage Express rated at the top of her field “is a fine testament to the value of her work, to her personal dedication, energy and application”.
