MEDIA RELEASE

Seven More Companies Join Nextspace 3D Visualisation Cluster

In the last quarter seven new organisations have joined the Nextspace 3D Visualisation Cluster, a group of companies using world-leading 3D visual communication technology for business and education applications. Eleven organisations in total belong to the cluster which is co-ordinated by Nextspace Limited, a 3D visualisation industry catalyst and consultancy, which launched a year ago.

Nextspace’s goal is to build a $1 billion visual communications industry in New Zealand which makes complex 3D data accessible, easy-to-use and interactive in a range of business and training applications. Coordinating an industry cluster is a core part of that vision.

The new cluster members come from a range of industries, but are all applying 3D tools to improve productivity and grow their businesses:
3D Live, has the New Zealand rights to ground-breaking multi-media technologies such as the Musion® Eyeline™holographic video projection system and Philips WOW VX 3D screens. It also provides 3D film production services, Fogscreen and Augmented Reality services.
BuildMedia, a leading architectural and construction visualisation agency, has developed a tool called RealSpace – a spatial simulation that enables developers, town planners or infrastructure providers to view project sites interactively from any angle. RealSpace can show large developments and outdoor areas and incorporate accurate GPS location and geographic information data.
Flexible Reality Studio, a consultancy run by one of the original founders of Nextspace that specialises in research and development of clever, use-worthy, interactive 3D solutions to real world problems.
HIT Lab NZ Limited develops innovative visual interactive marketing solutions including mobile and desktop augmented reality for global clients and advanced interactive eLearning solutions for the health market.
NorthTec works with Nextspace to develop 3D learning resources and teaching materials in its automotive, nursing, sports and recreation, horticulture and hospitality programmes.
Utilitech, a NZQA accredited industry training establishment in the utilities sector, which has worked with Nextspace to develop online training materials that reduce training times and costs for plumbers and gas fitters installing solar hot water heaters.
WelTec is transforming the delivery of its courses and participant work by incorporating 3D documentation into workflows. WelTec is developing the capacity to author 3D documents and create interactive learning tools using Right Hemisphere’s 3D technology, including a Deep Server 3D asset management server.

They join existing cluster members Nextspace Limited, Predefine, Revisia and Urban Voyage.

Nextspace CEO Gavin Lennox says, “Just one year on from our public launch, we are gaining critical mass and attracting a cluster of exciting organisations intent on building their businesses and products around visual communication and collaboration tools. The cluster members and their clients can point to real cost and time savings, new product developments and improved training outcomes.

“The cluster includes a mix of commercial, research, industry training and tertiary training organisations, which shows that visual communication tools can benefit almost any sector.”

Nextspace offers cluster members technical support, application development around Right Hemisphere technologies, workshops and seminars, joint marketing, research partnerships and access to the high-tech training and development facilities at Nextspace’s Innovation Centre.
