Ford Territory Recall
Ford Territory Recall
AUCKLAND, New Zealand, 27 March
2009
Ford New Zealand is voluntarily recalling Ford Territory vehicles built between February 1 2004 and December 31 2008 to rectify a front brake hose issue which has been found to occur on less than two per cent of vehicles.
A proactive investigation by Ford has determined that under certain operating conditions it is possible for the vehicle to develop a front brake fluid leak, which can result in reduced braking effectiveness from the front brakes. In these cases, the rear braking system will still bring the vehicle to a halt within Australian Design Rule requirements. If the vehicle continues to be operated in this condition, a warning light will appear on the instrument cluster to alert the driver that the vehicle's braking system requires attention.
Ford's investigation shows that a combination of high time in service, along with frequent cornering at full steering lock, can lead to the issue.
To ensure the complete safety of our customers, Ford is voluntarily recalling all non-turbo Ford Territory vehicles manufactured during the time period of February 1 2004 to December 31 2008. Territory XR Turbo, Territory Ghia Turbo and the FPV F6X are not included in the voluntary recall action.
Customers are advised to contact their nearest authorised Ford Dealer to make arrangements to have their vehicle rectified. The front brake hoses will be replaced free of charge.
Ford New Zealand will also be contacting customers directly via mail to advise the required action and have set up a free phone number to answer any customer queries - this number is 0800 367 362.
