Fisher & Paykel Appliances launches appliance pick up service
Hot on the heels of its successful recycling days, Fisher &Paykel Appliances has extended its services to include the picking up and recycling of inefficient appliances.
The company will now pick up these unwanted items from residents and businesses spanning Waiuku to Helensville. The $25 transport charge (including GST) can be made with MasterCard or Visa.
Fisher & Paykel Appliances Recycling Manager George Gray says the initiative is an extension of the company’s environmental programme and meets a community need.
“We already offer a free service for people to drop off their inefficient appliances, however we appreciate some people are not able to get these to us – for example, they may not have access to a trailer, vehicle with a tow bar, or other appropriate means to transport an appliance.
“This new service enables us to take the item off their hands for a minimal cost and ensure the appliance is recycled in a safe and environmentally friendly way.”
At the company’s recent annual recycling days, an outstanding 48 tonnes of waste was saved from going to landfill.
“Local communities really got in behind this initiative and brought in approximately 800 appliances across Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch,” says Mr Gray. “This was an outstanding result and we hope the extension of our recycling programme enables us to save even more waste from going to landfill.”
With tens of thousands of appliances put into landfill nationwide each year, this service further helps the public to recycle their appliances in an environmentally friendly, convenient manner at a minimal cost. This initiative is part of Fisher & Paykel Appliances’ environmental focus and commitment to make homes more energy efficient.
