PAK’nSAVE WAIRAU ROAD OPENS

North Shore City mayor, Andrew Williams officially opened Foodstuffs (Auckland) Limited’s newest and much anticipated supermarket, PAK’nSAVE Wairau Road, yesterday morning (Sunday, 3rd May).

Foodstuffs (Auckland) Limited managing director, Tony Carter says, “We are thrilled to have had such a warm welcome from the North Shore community who have been wanting this PAK’nSAVE for so long.

“We are now able to offer residents on this part of the North Shore a real choice about where they shop.”

North Shore City mayor, Andrew Williams said, “I am delighted that the 21 year wait for a PAK'nSAVE on the North Shore is finally over.

“There is huge public support for this new PAK’nSAVE. The store is going to be a great new addition to the grocery shopping options for people on the North Shore, and it is hoped that this magnificent new building will be the start of the re-birth of the Wairau Valley, encouraging other businesses into the area.

“I would also like to express thanks to the Foodstuffs group for their fortitude during this incredibly long saga which has ended with the public as the winners.”

A large crowd of local residents and well wishers gathered to hear the supermarket’s owner, Quintin Proctor thank the North Shore community for its support over the years before Mr Williams cut the ceremonial ribbon.

Hundreds of shoppers filed through the store throughout the day, taking advantage of PAK’nSAVE’s lowest food price promise.

Canteen, which is sponsored by Foodstuffs ran a sausage sizzle, raising $1,469 for its charitable initiatives.

All Foodstuffs stores (including PAK’nSAVEs, New Worlds and Four Squares) are locally owned and operated.
