New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference

11 May 2009: Prime Minister, Hon. John Key (Minister of Tourism) will open the 3rd annual New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference at SKYCITY Auckland Convention Centre, on Thursday 14 May 2009. The one day conference has the theme 'Opportunities in Challenging Times', a topic that has taken on even greater currency in recent weeks.

Co-sponsored by the New Zealand Hotel Council, Horwath HTL and Simpson Grierson, the New Zealand Hotel Industry Conference has attracted local and international speakers, including Tony South - Chief Development Officer, InterContinental Hotels Group, Asia Pacific; Stephen Toplis - Head of Research, Bank of New Zealand; John Berenyi, Managing Director, Bergent Research; and Rod Oram, Business Commentator.

The impressive line-up of speeches and panel sessions will be followed by cocktails and a dinner, at which the inaugural 'New Zealand Hotel Industry Achievement Award' will be presented to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the New Zealand hotel industry.

Criteria for the Award include: service to their business and the wider New Zealand hotel industry; personal achievements; and their reputation in the industry and wider community.
