Strong Workforce Rewards Wendy’s Recruitment

MEDIA RELEASE 28 MAY 2009

Strong Workforce Rewards Wendy’s Recruitment Successful and Rewarding

Wendy’s prides itself on friendly, service-oriented people, and the exciting, dynamic workplace it provides. And with an ever-expanding brand of fabulous fast food restaurants (Wendy’s is opening a new store in Paraparaumu later this year) working for Wendy’s has never been more popular. Their current workforce is strong, loyal and where others complain of low moral and bad environments, the opposite is happening at this successful fast food chain, with staff turnover down 39%.

So what is it that makes working for Wendy’s better? Just like the extra effort it takes to make the country’s “Best Tasting Burgers”*, Wendy’s also goes the extra mile for its employees. Wendy’s rewards workers by providing perks to support staff and encourage a real team atmosphere. From Warrior’s tickets (Wendy’s is the official restaurant of the team), to allowing input into uniform designs and offering a variety of awards that identify and promote talent within the company, Wendy’s is dedicated to helping each employee succeed and fulfill their goals.

This is all part of the Wendy’s philosophy, which has allowed them to build up a great team of satisfied staff at every restaurant.

Wendy’s HR Manager, Debbie Reyland, comments, “Family values are the backbone of this business and these naturally extend into our employment relationships. We truly respect the skills and personality each employee brings to work with them each day and we are passionate about encouraging those skills and fairly rewarding those who put in the effort. Wendy’s acknowledges that people are the key to success, and many of our employees are similarly realising that the key to their success is Wendy’s.”

Wendy’s has seen innumerable workers start from the bottom and work their way to the top, while enjoying themselves along the way.

Take Lui Lam, who started with Wendy’s as a “fry-guy” after arriving from Samoa in 1997. He now not only manages the Mt Wellington Wendy’s, but also took his restaurant to become one of the top four restaurants in the world at the “Every Customer Counts” awards in Texas from 6600 Wendy’s outlets worldwide. Lui and his wife were flown to the awards and he received a Rolex valued at USD$5000 for his efforts!

A more recent example is Noel Brandellero who featured on Close Up and now works at Wendy’s Queen Street restaurant. He was struggling to find a job and Wendy’s came to his rescue. He now has a brighter future ahead of him.

Wendy’s is locally owned and operated by a team who are passionate about providing delicious, quality food and exceptional customer service.
