Banker-turned-broker No. 1 at Mortgage Express

Banker-turned-broker No. 1 at Mortgage Express

28 May 2009: Banker-turned-broker Sue Clydesdale has been named the Mortgage Express Top Broker of 2008/09, for the second year in a row.

The Christchurch-based broker has repeated her success of 2007/08 and won both the award for settling the highest number of home loans in the nationwide group and the award for settling the highest dollar amount as well.

Nominated for the New Zealand Mortgage Brokers Association (NZMBA) Broker of the Year award in 2003 and a finalist for the NZMBA’s Christchurch award in 2004, 2005, 2007 and 2008, Ms Clydesdale has settled more than $275 million in the home loans since joining Mortgage Express in 2002, with a large portion of her business resulting from Harcourts referrals.

Prior to joining Mortgage Express, which is part of the Harcourts group, Ms Clydesdale gained 12 years’ experience in one of the major trading banks where she was involved in branch banking and assisted in setting up the Money Market department for the South Island.  Since leaving the bank and having two children she has owned and operated a 24 hour service station and more recently been Personal Assistant to a very successful real estate agent.

Mortgage Express CEO Andrew L’Almont says Ms Clydesdale is an outstanding broker.

“To win these awards once is a major achievement, but to win two years in a row is absolutely outstanding,” he says.

“Whilst she is very well supported by the business owners, managers and salespeople at Harcourts Grenadier Real Estate, one of Harcourts largest franchises in New Zealand, she still has to do the work to convert leads into deals so it’s no easy road.”

Commenting on her success Ms Clydesdale says she is very proud to have won the two awards for another year.

“I’ve worked really hard to build relationships with the Harcourts Grenadier sales consultants, managers and owners and with a variety of lenders, and I’m proud of both my success and the reputation I have for never compromising on honesty.”

Mortgage Express, established in 1997, is a nationwide mortgage broking business which last year expanded to include an insurance division, Insurance Express.  Part of the Harcourts group the company currently has 40 mortgage brokers and 15 insurance advisors around New Zealand who provide access for their clients to 15 mortgage lenders and all the major insurance companies in the country.
