Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park 2009

Nationwide search for stars to shine at Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park 2009

The annual search for fresh new Kiwi talent to perform at New Zealand’s biggest outdoor Christmas concert is underway! The producers of Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park are inviting New Zealand's best singers to audition for this iconic event, now in it’s 16th year. Auditions are being held in Christchurch and Auckland and the best and brightest will be chosen to perform in front of the largest audience of it’s kind in the world.

This year the show’s producer Kate Ward-Smythe and musical director Penny Dodd are looking for exciting new talent to rival world-class singers such as Hayley Westenra, Elizabeth Marvelly, Turanga Merito and Will Martin, all of whom auditioned for Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park.

Says Ms Ward Smythe, ”The most exciting aspect of creating this show is discovering exciting new talent through the audition process. Over the years, Penny and I have seen a number of talented young New Zealand performers go on to achieve great success on the international stage.”

Auditions will take place in Auckland on Saturday 25 & Sunday 26 July and in Christchurch on Saturday 1 and Sunday 2 August 2009.

In addition to looking for talented singers for solo roles, the experienced talent spotters are also keen to discover young singer-dancers aged 8 to 14 years for the coveted “Kids Crew” in both Auckland and Christchurch.

Ms Ward Smythe states,” We’re looking for inspirational performers with stunning vocal craft, who can reach out and connect with that huge outdoor audience. A Coca-Cola Christmas in the Park soloist must possess enormous vocal discipline and unflappable confidence – the sort that only comes with experience and / or exceptional ability.”

So if you think you have what it takes to get you performing on stage with some of New Zealand’s biggest stars visit www.christmasinthepark.co.nz and the dream could become a reality!
