Canterbury NZ's ultimate winter destination!

Media Release 17 June, 2009

Terrace Downs Resort - Canterbury NZ's ultimate winter destination!

Terrace Downs is making more noise now than ever before and with the exciting new announcements it’s no wonder why.  The Spa is perfect for a wind down after a long day on the slopes, the gourmet al fresco pizza restaurant The Grill, is ideal for a cold beer (or mulled wine!) and a pizza after any day's work or day on the slopes…and the new events calendar is going to rock the heart of the Canterbury high country with some great local and international acts over the next 12 months.

Situated in the foothills of Mt Hutt, Terrace Downs is ideally located on Coleridge road and for those of you who do not know the area too well it is also the gateway to the great Canterbury club fields. Broken River, Craigieburn and Porters Ski Area all boast great terrain and offer easy access to some of the best back country runs hidden in the Southern Alps. The $75.00 Heli-taxi from Terrace Downs heli-pad to Mt Hutt is back this season and is sure to create some extra special and lasting memories of any family or group holiday.

Being nestled away among  so many fantastic ski areas’ it is no wonder Terrace Downs is becoming increasingly popular as a winter escape destination, and with access to first class accommodation and resort facilities at very affordable prices the resort looks set for a busy time over the coming months!

Children are spoilt for choice this winter with the Snowsports Programme at Mt Hutt AND The TD Hawks Club on site at Terrace Downs (watch this space!). These great new facilities offer families the option of experiencing a fun day on the field, or if preferred, leaving the children to get out and about in the beautiful High Country. The launch of this club will kick off during the July school holidays and include fun learning and play sessions and encourage children to get outside, do some hands-on learning and have a great time in a safe and supportive environment. The TD Hawks Club is as exciting for Ma and Pa as it is for the Children and offer’s membership to everyone between the ages of five and twelve.

Guests to the resort are invited to enjoy the free use of the new gym facilities as well as the Resort’s recently opened sports training field. For those who like a little competition, bookings are currently being taken for teams to enjoy a friendly match against the stunning backdrop of the majestic Mt Hutt.

The Terrace Downs mid-winter festive dinner menu looks delicious again this year and at only $65.00 per head, any excuse is excuse enough. Guests will be treated to three courses of top quality meats and the finest local produce, and together with great accommodation rates throughout June and July it is very tempting to make a night or two of it…!
