Out of town Lotto Stores prove to be luckiest
Before heading out for
your next Big Wednesday or Lotto ticket, Paper Plus has some
advice on how to keep Lady Luck on your side. It seems
buying from stores outside the big smoke may be just the
ticket, as evidenced by last week’s lucky Masterton
quartet of new multimillionaires, who purchased their $36
million-winning ticket from Take Note Kuripuni.
Thames (population 26,000), Te Awamutu (12,000), Whitianga (3,800) and Marton (4,600) all have one thing in common – they are home to Paper Plus’ luckiest Lotto shops, having given away a total of 45 First Division, Strike and Big Wednesday-winning Lotto tickets between them. In fact, Thames Take Note tops the list, having given away 17 winning tickets worth more than $15,000,000, followed by 14 from Paper Plus Te Awamutu.
Sitting at $2 million, this weeks Big Wednesday draw may be lower than the record-setting $36 million, however, a win would still be life-changing for most Kiwis. Placing $2 million of winnings into a savings account at an average interest rate of 3.15% pa would return a very pleasing $38,770 in after-tax interest in the first year.
Paper Plus Group Marketing Manager Lyle Hastings says, “With stores in nearly every town and city across the country, we are something of a hub for our local communities, and our store owners have great rapport with their regular customers. Our Take Note Kuripuni owners tell us that 90% of their customers are regulars, so they were pleased to have sold the $36 million ticket to people they knew. Selling the winning ticket creates an incredible buzz in the store – in anticipation of finding out which of their regulars is a new millionaire.”
