GREENSACTM provides an innovative environmental solution for New Zealand consumers. Our philosophy was to develop a total solution. The result was a plastic rubbish bag range that ticked all of the environmental boxes.

Recycle, Re-use, Produce, Consume and Remove

The GREENSACTM solution:

Our goal was to develop and produce a rubbish bag range that contributed to the reduction of plastic waste in New Zealand. During the developmental process we found that in the current market you could purchase rubbish bags made from recycled plastic and claiming to be bio-degradable but they were manufactured overseas. In effect, New Zealand consumers were and are buying products containing other country’s waste.

We could not see the advantages in importing and selling waste from another country when it could all be produced in New Zealand using our own waste products. Our viewpoint is that rather than the product range just being bio-degradable it should be Oxo-biodegradable –which means that the product will breakdown over a pre determined time period not only in landfills but in water, oxygen and sunlight as well.

Pacrite Industries Ltd, a family owned and operated business established in 1983, set out to develop a product that would not only utilise New Zealand produced recycled plastic, but would also be manufactured in New Zealand. In addition to this, the product had to incorporate cutting edge technology both in terms of material engineering and manufacturing processes. The requirements for the GREENSACTM range were for the bags to appeal visually to New Zealand consumers whilst maintaining exceptional quality standards and a competitive pricing position.

A state-of-the-art plastic extrusion manufacturing plant was commissioned in Warkworth to produce the GREENSACTM product range. This locally owned and operated facility is able to manufacture product which meets all target requirements and specifications.

Quote: “I felt that an environmental rubbish bag that benefits New Zealand should be a simple consumer choice as opposed to an additional cost. We set a standard and achieved our goals in terms of concept, engineering, design and manufacturing. The final product is outstanding and I believe it sets a benchmark for the future. Consumers should not always have to pay a premium to make the right choice and that is what we have achieved”.

(Brent Mackway-Jones, Managing Director)

A key element of the concept is to provide a complete range of products for the consumer. The initial GREENSACTM range comprises of ten products including kitchen tidies, office bin liners, household and garden rubbish bags as well as wheelie bin liners.

The GREENSACTM range delivers in all environmental areas. The GREENSACTM range re-uses NZ waste recycled plastics. It is produced in NZ providing jobs and contributing to the manufacturing economy. Only water based inks are used in the printing process thereby helping to further reduce the hydrocarbon footprint. A further benefit of the entire range is the Oxo-bio degradable formula which results in no methane gases being released during decomposition. These rubbish bags decompose after a predetermined time leaving no waste or residue.

GREENSACTM range launches nationwide during July and will be available from selected New World, Pak ‘N’ Save and Mitre 10 MEGA stores, as well as all Green Acres franchises and your leading local stationery stores, distributed by Croxley Stationery Ltd. Also available from selected dairies, independent grocers and garden centres.
