DFS and Air NZ launch online duty free store

Media Release
6 July 2009

DFS and Air New Zealand launch online duty free store

Air New Zealand has launched a simple-to-use online duty free store in conjunction with DFS New Zealand, enabling international travellers to quickly and easily pre-order tax and duty free goods.

The new store – www.airnzdutyfree.com - allows customers to choose from up to 1,500 products in popular shopping categories including cosmetics, fragrance, electronics, alcohol and confectionery.

Air New Zealand Group General Manager Short Haul Airlines Bruce Parton says the launch of the store is a natural evolution for the airline’s range of travel products, given that customers already have the ability to book airfares, accommodation, packages, rental cars, camper vans and travel insurance at www.airnewzealand.co.nz

Every month the store will feature Air New Zealand product specials and customers will have the opportunity to qualify for Airpoints Dollars on purchases from DFS New Zealand.

“The new site makes it really easy for customers to quickly find what they’re looking for and pre-order straight off the back of booking their international airfares to and from
New Zealand,” he said.

DFS Oceania Managing Director Maxime Elgue explained: “DFS New Zealand is pleased to be in partnership with Air New Zealand in this new venture. This is a critical new channel to keep in touch with our customers Around the world DFS is focused on satisfying every customer’s needs, bringing travelers the best brands, the most choice and great value and excellent service.

“This new website offers customers the opportunity to directly access the DFS New Zealand deals when booking their flights online, knowing their items will be waiting for them when they depart or arrive at either Auckland or Christchurch airport,” he said.

One of the favourite duty free items for Kiwis traveling is Toblerone – so much so that Kiwis purchased the equivalent in weight of more than four Beech 1900D aircraft last year!
