Record numbers sign up for largest event for business

Record numbers have pre-registered for the Bizzone Business Expo which opened in Wellington this morning.

More than 2000 business owners - a record number - have signed up for this year's Bizzone Business Expo which opens in Auckland today.

Organisers say the recession means more business owners need business support and that's what the expo is offering. Eleven government organisations and over 100 exhibitors plus free seminars are attracting business owners. Also popular are smart marketing workshops that teach people how to turn big ideas into real businesses.

Business support specialist Sarah Trotman says the Bizzone Business Expo is one of the few expos in the country where exhibitor numbers are above target and exhibitor sites for the Business Expo being held in Christchurch are now nearly full. It has also received strong sponsorship from NewstalkZB, OGGI and the Marketing Association.

Bizzone have taken out billboards around Wellington stating “We ♥ business” and believe their positive attitude has also encouraged people to support the Bizzone Business Expo.

“While times are challenging for people in business right now it is vital to stay positive,” Sarah Trotman says. “The Bizzone Business Expo was set up to offer great business support so people could stand tall and be confident about their business model. When business is tougher it is even more important to keep standards high and focus on delivering excellence for your customers, and make sure you take time out to find out where you can be improving and how.”

“At our expo, our 100-plus exhibitors are 100% committed to achieving results for the people who attend,” Sarah Trotman says. “Everyone who comes to the expo goes away with a new idea or product that actually helps them achieve better results in their business.”

Visitor pre-registrations are over 2000 already - tracking higher than in 2008. More than 13,000 attended all three Bizzone Business Expos in 2008.

This year’s expo theme is ‘smart marketing’ and a $100,000 smart marketing prize is on offer to everyone attending. The new Smart Marketing School will be another drawcard for both exhibitors and visitors who can attend for free at 11am or 2pm on all three days of the Business Expo.

One of the main attractions of the Bizzone Business Expo is the free National Bank Seminar Series, with over 40 experts speaking on a range of topics from smart marketing to cashflow, from business planning to sustainability. Plus a stunning keynote speaker line up that includes the highly original Davey Hughes from Swazi Apparel, the loveable Raymond Henderson, hairdresser to the stars, and media entrepreneur David Johnson, all telling their unique business stories.

The Bizzone Business Expo is on in Wellington at the TSB Bank Arena from 22-24 July and in Christchurch at the Convention Centre from 5-7 August.
