Kiwi tradesmen line up to work in Paris
Since listing a job on Builderscrack.co.nz seeking Kiwi tradesmen to renovate her 3 storey house near Paris, NZ expat Pauline Hampshire has been overwhelmed by the amount of interest she has had. “Renovating my house in Paris is something I had been thinking of doing for a while, but I have been amazed by the level of interest from NZ tradespeople”.
Pauline’s appreciation of NZ tradesmen over their French counterparts has captured the attention of kiwi tradesmen. As at midnight Thursday, two days after listing the work, over 5,000 people had viewed it, with 44 tradespeople pitching for the opportunity to live and work in France. NZ tradesmen from Bay of Islands down to Dunedin had applied. Word of the French renovation job travelled fast around the world, with Gareth a Kiwi plasterer on the Gold Coast and Bradley, a Kiwi Gasfitter on his OE in France, getting some help from mates and parents in Christchurch.
Most tradespeople have put forward their professional credentials, while several have focused on their personal reasons for wanting to visit France. Some have sought to impress through dusting off high school French. Others are willing to go to any lengths “I will even eat lizard limbs if that’s what you fellas cook over there” said Aaron from Wellington. “I am focused on both motivation and experience, but motivation is very important” said Pauline.
Only serious tradespeople need apply. “We are currently running the newly registered tradespeople through a screening process to ensure they meet our standards” said Builderscrack.co.nz’s Keith Roberts.
Pauline expects to select a short list soon, so if you are interested, get in quickly. Pauline’s job can be seen at http://builderscrack.co.nz/jobs/2726
