Pacific Blue And V Australia Launch Online Bookings From New Zealand To The USA

Tuesday, 4 August 2009. Pacific Blue and V Australia have made it easier for Kiwis to book a low fare to the USA with online fares now available at flypacificblue.com and vaustralia.co.nz.

For the past three months Kiwi travellers have been able to book fares on the Pacific Blue-V Australia code share flights via travel agents, but can now also go online and book flights.

Connecting flights are available for sale from Auckland, Wellington, and Christchurch to Los Angeles and beyond.

The fares include a Pacific Blue flight to Sydney, Brisbane or Melbourne^ with onward travel on the trans-Pacific’s newest airline, V Australia, to the USA.
V Australia is currently offering a special return fare online from New Zealand to Los Angeles from $999* (on sale until midnight Wednesday 5 August 2009 or until sold out.) At this time only return fares can be purchased from New Zealand, though one-way fares may be offered at some future stage.

V Australia operates fuel-efficient 777-300ER aircraft with three classes for Guests to choose from: 33 Business Class lie-flat beds, 40 Premium Economy club seats and 288 economy seats.

Pacific Blue said it had seen encouraging take-up on the V Australia code share flights to Los Angeles in the three months they had been available for sale through travel agents.

“We’ve been impressed with the way the travel industry has packaged and sold the V Australia flights,” said Pacific Blue’s General Manager Commercial, Adrian Hamilton-Manns.

“Recently House of Travel offered a popular package for New Zealanders of flights and five nights accommodation in Los Angeles from just $1,479. That’s an excellent deal.”

Mr Hamilton-Manns said that Kiwi travellers seem comfortable with the fact that the flights connect via Australia and the airline had received positive feedback on the flexibility the fares offered.

“For example, Guests who book a fare by phone with V Australia, or though their travel agent, can break the journey in Australia at no extra cost.”

Travel from New Zealand beyond Los Angeles can also be booked online to a number of U.S. destinations, including New York, Washington D.C., and Orlando, thanks to an interline agreement between V Australia and Delta Airlines.

* Fare quoted is based on return fare booked online – $50 more by phone. Seats are limited and may not be available on all flights or peak days. Fare is on sale until midnight 5 August 2009 or until sold out for travel from 1 November to 30 November 2009 and 1 February to 28 February 2010. Fare price is based on Economy V Promo fare – full conditions available at flypacificblue.com or vaustralia.co.nz.
