Techtonics to transform Labour’s management

Techtonics selected to transform Department of Labour’s management of critical business records

New Zealand-owned information and infrastructure management firm Techtonics has been appointed as the provider of the Department of Labour’s electronic document and records management solution (EDRMS), providing it functionality to improve systems efficiency and increase productivity.

The Department selected Techtonics, using eDocs from Open Text technology, after an open tender and extensive evaluation process.

“We will work with the Department to improve the capture, maintenance and accessibility of its business information, allowing it to leverage it to their best advantage while significantly improving the compliance and security of record keeping,” said Greg Bickerton, Chief Executive of Techtonics.

“The Department is striving to improve the productivity of New Zealand workers and workplaces, and our solution will enable it to demonstrate best practice within its own organisation as well as leading the way for others,” Mr Bickerton said.

He said Techtonics’ proven track record of success with many other public and private sector organisations, along with its transparent and collaborative operating practice and support for customers over many years, were key strengths offered by the business.

With 2,165 staff in 23 locations around New Zealand and offshore, the Department’s operations are information-intensive, and improved information management is crucial to driving operational excellence.

Olwyn Crutchley, the Department’s Information Services Manager, said Techtonics would streamline the storage and management of electronic and physical records, enhancing staff’s ability to access information and deliver on business objectives, and ensuring compliance with mandatory standards and other requirements of the Public Records Act.

The solution will be a core business system used initially by head office staff before rolling out across the country over time.

"The project has far-reaching implications for the way work is done at the Department. We needed flexibility to be able to integrate the system with all our business processes and functionality to deliver on our business objectives. It also needed to be intuitive to use in order to be readily accepted by all our staff. We are looking forward to working with Techtonics,” Ms Crutchley said.
