Receivers appointed for SOL Square bars

MEDIA RELEASE:

4 August 2009

Receivers appointed for SOL Square bars in Christchurch

PricewaterhouseCoopers partners Malcolm Hollis and John Fisk have been appointed receivers of three companies that trade six bars in Christchurch’s SOL Square, on 30 July 2009.

The companies are: The Fish and Chip Shop Limited, trading as the “Fish and Chip Shop”; Edward J Schwartz Entertainment Inc Limited, trading as “Fat Eddie's” and “Cleaners Only”; and Yellow Cross Brewing Company Limited, trading as “Yellow Cross", "Vinum", and "Le Petit Croix”.

The receivers have been working with their appointer, DB Breweries, and the director of the companies, David Henderson, since their appointment in order to develop a plan to manage to the ongoing trading of all of the venues.

Malcolm Hollis: “I can confirm that we intend to continue trading the bars as normal at this stage. For the past few days following our appointment Mr Henderson has been in discussions with DB Breweries with a view to resolving the matter,” he says. “Those discussions have not resulted in any change to the situation and the receivership continues.”

“It is our intention to continue to work with Atlas Food and Beverage Limited, which currently manages the day to day operation of the bars. It’s still very much business as usual, and customers can expect the same excellent service they have become accustomed to.”
