Advertisers Association swells its ranks

Advertisers Association swells its ranks

Auckland, 5 August 2009 – The Association of New Zealand Advertisers Inc (ANZA) has created a new senior management role in response to business growth and increased demands for its services.

Lindsay Mouat has been appointed to the position of General Manager, Commercial. Lindsay has held a variety of business management positions, including that of New Zealand Director for Unilever and marketing roles with Glaxo and Fletcher Challenge, and has an in-depth knowledge of the New Zealand advertising landscape.

Lindsay’s role will be to position and promote ANZA’s mission and values to members, advertising agencies and media organisations, in addition to managing the advertising and promotion pre-vetting systems for liquor and therapeutic products.

He will work with and report to Jeremy Irwin, formerly ANZA Executive Director, who now becomes Chief Executive Officer. Jeremy continues to work with members, industry and government organisations on advertising and marketing communications issues, with a focus on political advocacy and developing closer relationships with the Australian industry.

He says, “Lindsay’s appointment is extremely good news for the New Zealand advertising and marketing community.

“ANZA’s business has grown considerably in the past few years and we expect further growth. Adding a new senior management position to our team ensures we are well-placed to come out of the recession stronger than ever, and allows us to work even harder on behalf of the New Zealand advertising industry.”

Lindsay says, “I look forward to providing a renewed focus on membership service and support. Advertisers are faced with an increasingly complex media environment at a time when their need for both efficiency and effectiveness from their communications strategies is greater than ever. ANZA has a key role to play to ensure that these objectives can be met.”

About the Advertisers Association (ANZA):

The Association of New Zealand Advertisers provides a collective voice in dealing with government, media, advertising agencies and other organisations integral to the advertising industry. Members represent the top 100 advertisers within New Zealand and the majority of national brand advertising.

ANZA’s mission is to promote and advocate for an industry environment of free and legitimate commercial communication guided by industry self-regulation. ANZA has led the promotion of self-regulation and runs the LAPS (Liquor Advertising Pre-vetting System) and TAPS (Therapeutics Advertising Pre-vetting System), ensuring that advertising meets the industry codes of practice well before reaching New Zealanders.

Members from major national brands are represented within ANZA and the governing Council works hard to ensure members have a high level of understanding of issues and access to useful resources and information. The recent Strategic Management Workshop, conducted for ANZA members, was a huge success and reflects the thought leadership position that the Advertisers Association is known for.
