Series bring NZ investors up to speed

Mercer’s investment series bring NZ investors up to speed on the changed investment landscape

Wednesday 3rd August 2009

Institutional investors and trustees will be able access Mercer’s latest insights on investing in fixed interest, equities and on implementing medium-term tilts to a strategic asset allocation in the light of the dramatically changed investment landscape post-GFC.

Martin Lewington, Head of Mercer’s investment business in New Zealand said the Investment Series 2009, a three-part seminar series, which kicks off during August, will draw on Mercer’s global expertise, but focus on solutions for NZ based investors.

“We are working harder than ever to position our clients’ portfolios to take advantage of opportunities which are surfacing in the current economic environment.

“This series will offer participants an insight on lessons learned from the economic crisis and views on how to rebuild portfolios efficiently and capitalise on opportunities to create value in the medium and long term.”

The two-hour seminars will be held in both Auckland and Wellington, and will be led by Mercer experts from both New Zealand and Australia.

There will be three seminars in the Investment Series 2009 and will cover:

·        Fixed interest portfolio construction – on the defensive: Following the credit crisis, the playing field for fixed interest portfolios has changed dramatically. In light of the lessons learned, this seminar will explore methods of constructing robust fixed interest portfolios, including what role, if any, NZ bonds have to play.
