Sustainable Wine And Sustainable Design - The Perfect Blend
Yealands Estate has joined forces with eco-savvy fashion designer Miranda Brown to showcase wine and fashion that leaves a big impression, but a small carbon footprint.
Since it launched last year, Yealands Estate has established itself as New Zealand’s leading sustainable winery while Miranda Brown - Conscious Cloth fashion label has received numerous accolades for its focus on nature and sustainable business principles.
The partnership kicks off with Miranda Brown on Tour, a boutique designer road show throughout New Zealand from September – December 2009. Attendees will be able to connect with nature while trying on beautiful garments and tasting award-winning Yealands Estate wines.
“Miranda Brown’s creativity caught our attention – especially her work with New Zealand wool,” says Debbie Jones, Yealands Estate brand manager. But even better, she has such integrity behind her commitment to sustainability and quality so it’s a perfect fit.”
Miranda Brown is excited about the chance to collaborate with Yealands Estate.
“We can excite our customers with products that make them look and feel good; that also tread lightly on our planet,” says Miranda.
Both companies are members of the Sustainable Business Network and have received independent recognition for their sustainability platforms.
Yealands recently received carboNZero certification and won the Small to Medium Business Award at the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) Awards. It has a range of traditional sustainability initiatives including wetland areas and solar power, but is known for innovative thinking such as grazing pint-sized Babydoll sheep to keep the grass and emissions down.
Miranda Brown has completed the Sustainable Business Network green challenge - a comprehensive sustainability assessment that helps organisations identify, measure and continuously improve their sustainability performance. On completing her green challenge, she was awarded runner-up in the ‘trail blazer’ section for Northland region, a significant achievement.
