Russell Investments welcomes Ansley back
August 27 2009 – Craig Ansley has decided to rejoin Russell on a permanent basis after being offered a new role on one of Russell’s global research teams.
Dr Ansley, who is renowned in the New Zealand investment and capital markets sector, has been appointed Director, Capital Markets Research, starting mid-September.
Mark Blair, Managing Director for Russell Investments New Zealand, says he is pleased Dr Ansley has agreed to return to Russell on a more permanent basis after working on a consulting basis for over a year.
“This is a really good example of Russell identifying its most knowledgeable people and having them join our global efforts, regardless of geographic locations,” Mr Blair says.
Dr Ansley became Managing Director of Russell Investment Group NZ in 1992 and later Chairman and Director of Consulting Practice Australasia before retiring from his full time commitments in July last year. During that time he consulted to most of New Zealand’s large funds, including the NZ Superannuation Fund.
Dr Ansley has been widely published in statistics and econometrics and is a Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries in London and Associate of the Society of Actuaries in the US. Among other academic positions, he was a Professor of Statistics and Econometrics at the prestigious Graduate School of Business at the University of Chicago.
Dr Ansley says he couldn’t turn down the opportunity to become a fulltime researcher again, something he hasn’t done since he left academia 15 years ago.
“However, the key factor is Russell Investments'
commitment to reaffirming its position as the leading
international research group in investment services,” he
says.
Dr Ansley’s return follows Russell’s recent
appointment of Andrew Johnson, former Head of Relationship
Management at AMP Capital Investors, to its New Zealand
consulting
team.
