Cathay Pacific Increases To Double Daily New
Zealand Service
Cathay Pacific has announced that, due to increased passenger demand, from November 1, 2009 the airline will increase to a twice daily non-stop service between Auckland and Hong Kong.
To provide further capacity, from November 13, 2009 until the end of February, 2010 Cathay Pacific’s afternoon departure from Auckland will be upgraded from an Airbus A340 to a B747-400 aircraft. This B747 service will include a First Class cabin which features Cathay Pacific’s luxurious new suites.
David Figgins, country manager for New Zealand and Pacific Islands, said that despite the worldwide economic downturn, forward bookings were looking “extremely positive” on the New Zealand route.
Said Mr Figgins: “The increased capacity is a vote of confidence by Cathay Pacific in its services to New Zealand.”
Cathay Pacific’s schedules are designed to provide maximum and easy connections through Hong Kong to destinations throughout the world. For example, the morning departure from Auckland, CX118 leaving at 8.55am, arrives in Hong Kong mid afternoon and offers immediate connections on to Japan, Korea, China, and other points across Asia and the Middle East. CX108 which departs at 2.40pm, arriving in Hong Kong 8.40pm (local time)is scheduled to offer convenient connections to United Kingdom, Europe, South Africa, India and the Middle East as well as selected destinations in Asia.
From October 1, all flights to and from New Zealand will feature Cathay Pacific newly refurbished aircraft, which offer lie-flat beds in Business Class and the innovative fixed back Economy Class seat, which reclines within a fixed cocoon shell. The Economy seat allows passengers to maintain their own personal space as the seat in front does not recline back into their space. It also negates the annoying habit of a passenger pulling back on the seat in front when they get out of their seat.
The introduction of the new seats on the Auckland flights marks the completion of a refurbishment project on all of Cathay Pacific's long haul fleet of aircraft.
From November 1, the local schedule will be as follows:
