PricewaterhouseCoopers elects new CEO
PricewaterhouseCoopers Partner Bruce Hassall has been elected the new CEO of the New Zealand firm, PwC has today announced.
Bruce was elected by PwC’s 114 NZ partners,
and will formally take up his role on 21 September. The
election follows the appointment of current PwC CEO Warwick
Hunt as Managing Partner of PwC’s Middle East Regional
practice. Warwick will remain with PwC New Zealand for a
transition period until early October.

maintain its position as the market leader,” he

Bruce has been head of the firm’s Advisory practice for the past year, and has extensive experience with both major public and private company groups and a range of industries, including the retail, travel, communications and entertainment sectors. He also headed the firm’s Assurance practice for four years.
Commenting on his election, Bruce says: “I am very excited about leading our firm and working with our clients as we all focus on succeeding in today’s economic climate. Now is the time to help our clients capitalise on the opportunities ahead as the economy rebounds.”

Bruce is a senior partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers New Zealand, with over 28 years experience, 22 years as a partner. He is a member of the Firm Executive and is the leader of the New Zealand Advisory Practice.
His career experience includes time in London, Hamilton and Auckland and a number of industry secondments. Bruce is lead partner on several of the firm’s major clients, and formerly led the firm’s Assurance Practice.
Bruce has extensive experience with both major public and private company groups and a range of industries, including the retail, travel, communications and entertainment sectors. He also has specialist expertise associated with IPO and capital raising activities and has either led or been involved with many of the major IPOs that have taken place in the last five years.
Bruce is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Chartered Accountants, and sits on the Practice Review Board of NZICA.
