Unison Networks Announces new Chairman
New Zealand software specialist and Hawke’s Bay business leader Kevin Atkinson has been elected chairman of electricity lines company Unison Networks, the company announced today.
Mr Atkinson replaces chairman of seven years Brian Martin who retired last month.
Mr Atkinson, a director of Unison for 12 years, is the principal and Managing Director of New Zealand software development company Information Management Systems Ltd (IMS) which services over 10,000 companies nationwide.
He has served eight years as Chairman of the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board, and continues as a Board member under the current Commissioner He is the Financial Director of the Hawke’s Bay Rugby Board and retired Deputy Chairman of The Eastern and Central Community Trust.
Unison chief executive Ken Sutherland said Mr Atkinson’s appointment represented a new era for both the Board and the company as it begins deploying smart networks technology as part of improving customer service.
“Mr Atkinson has the proven experience and leadership to help steer the company as it expands its smart networks into the telecommunications market with the roll out high speed broadband,” Mr Sutherland said.
Mr Sutherland said he also wanted to also acknowledge the enormous contribution and commitment of former chairman Brain Martin in positioning Unison for a strong and dynamic future.
Unison Networks, is one of New Zealand’s largest electricity distribution businesses supplying more than 100,000 customers connected to networks in Hawke’s Bay, Rotorua and Taupo.
