Homegrown, Baked Potatoes On The Menu
A good, old fashioned, homegrown baked
potato can not only be a delicious meal option, but a
nutritious one too.
Potatoes are so good for you
that they even carry the National Heart Foundation tick of
approval.
Slow-baked potatoes have been a staple at
Wendy’s Old Fashioned Hamburgers for years, providing a
satisfying and wholesome meal.
Kiwi Dave, face of
Wendy’s, comments, “We always ensure healthy options are
on the menu at Wendy’s. You are able to swap your fries in
a combo for a Sour Cream and Chives Baked Potato for no
extra charge. Served in their skins they are a great source
of fibre. They really are one of nature's super
foods.”
The Potato Industry Group advises people
on its website that a potato contains nearly half your daily
requirement of Vitamin C, and is an important source of
Vitamin B and minerals.
The potatoes used by
Wendy’s are all grown in New Zealand. Depending on the
season the potatoes are harvested and sourced from the
Waikato, Pukekohe or Manawatu. Not just your average spuds,
the varieties used are Rua, IIam Hardy and
Moonlight.
With five different types of baked
potatoes available at Wendy’s you will never get bored of
this healthy option. Take your pick from Sour Cream &
Chives, Broccoli & Cheese, Chilli & Cheese and Bacon &
Cheese. Available all year around from $2.90- $4.00.
