Sponsors Right Behind Dairy Awards

Sponsors of the New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards have remained committed to the 2010 awards, despite the economic downturn.

“We are more than pleased to have gained the full backing of our sponsors as we recognise there are challenging times out there for businesses,” National Management Committee Chairman Matthew Richards says.

The New Zealand Dairy Industry Awards – which runs the Sharemilker of the Year, Farm Manager of the Year and Dairy Trainee of the Year competitions – attracted record entries this year, with nearly 400 entries received across the three competitions.

“The awards programme is going from strength to strength as we create a pathway that helps people gain new skills, confidence and networks that will see them progress in the industry,” Mr Richards says.

“The dairy industry needs good people and our awards help identify and encourage excellence as well as promote leadership within the industry.

“Many of our sponsors have been with us from the start and they are also passionate and committed to helping sharemilkers, farm managers, contract milkers and dairy trainees achieve their best. Our sponsors have bought into our philosophy and we are working in real partnership to deliver a great awards programme for young people working hard to get ahead in the industry.”

The 2010 national sponsors are: Westpac, DairyNZ, Ecolab, Federated Farmers, Fonterra, Honda Motorcycles NZ, LIC, Meridian Energy, Ravensdown and RD1, along with industry partner Agriculture ITO.

Entries for the 2010 contest open on November 1 and further information on the awards can be found at www.dairyindustryawards.co.nz.
