BNZ Weekly Overview, September 17 2009

Welcome to the September 17 2009 issue of the BNZ Weekly Overview.

The NZ dollar has continued its merry way upward this week trading near 71.5 cents this afternoon with support from the same factor we have highlighted for months now – rising risk tolerance around the world. This week the economic data out of the United States has been positive while here in NZ data have been decidedly mixed though with further evidence of a strong housing market with prices on average now up 6% from early this year.

This week we take a look at the positive and negative factors which will be influencing NZ growth over the next couple of years – with the exchange rate an obviously large factor on the negative side.
