The National Grid - Building for the Future

Final registration: A briefing on Transpower's $5bn program for investment in the national grid.

Presented by Wayne Brown, Chairman of Transpower and hosted by member Simpson Grierson, this free NZCID event has already elicited strong response with attendees ranging from consultants to constructors, local authorities and utilities.

Transpower has embarked on a significant investment programme - both building new capacity and refurbishing and replacing our transmission assets to ensure the grid provides a secure platform for New Zealand's future growth.

Wayne Brown will present on the major upgrade projects that are now underway. This provides the ideal occasion to be fully briefed on Transpower's investment programme and understand the opportunities and challenges this may present.

The Role of Mediation in the Construction Industry

NZCID is pleased to notify you of an upcoming free lecture series put on by the New Zealand Institute of Building (NZIOB) and Kensington Swan, solicitors. The lecture series begins in the week of 12 October and will be held in Auckland, Hamilton, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin the series is being presented by the Australasian, and arguably worldwide, expert on mediation, Sir Laurence Street QC. He will be presenting on 'The role of mediation in the construction industry'. Sir Laurence is a former Chief Justice and Lt Governor of New South Wales and since leaving the Supreme Court bench has been actively engaged in commercial mediation and dispute resolution.

The format for the evening is a one hour presentation by Sir Laurence and, after a short break, a three quarter of an hour question and answer session for members. This is a great opportunity for all members to hear from a highly respected practitioner of alternative dispute resolution and gain some real insights into resolving disputes in these tough economic times.
