Prominent Northlander ends term at ASB

NEWS RELEASE
For immediate release

After eight years in the role, well-known Northlander Kevin Prime’s term as a Trustee for ASB Community Trust has ended.

During his time as a Trustee Mr Prime, who is from Motatau near Kawakawa, rose to be Chair of the Trust and Chair of the Combined Chairs of the Community Trusts group, serving as their nationwide representative.

Trustees are appointed to four-year terms by the Minister of Finance, Bill English, who commented that Mr Prime brought a breadth of skills and experience to his role.

In a letter informing him of who the new Trustees will be, Mr English noted that Mr Prime “brought a valued tangata whenua perspective and Northland representation to the Board. Most significantly, I am informed that you have consistently demonstrated outstanding leadership, particularly during the challenges of the current economic climate.”

A new Chair will be elected at the November Board meeting.

The two new Trustees are Ken Whitney, a partner in the legal firm Ross & Whitney and a trustee of the Chisholm Whitney Family Trust; and Paula Kearns, Director of accounting firm PKCA and a current board member of the New Zealand Football Board, NZ Onshore Sculpture Ltd and United Soccer 1.

The new Trustees replace Sr Mary Foy and Yoon Boo Lee, who have completed two four-year terms.

Northland continues to be represented by Opua resident Ann Green and Whangarei’s Jenny Kirk, while Trustee Waitai Petera brings his Te Aupouri and Ngati Kuri connections to the Board table.
