Broadcast yourself and share your life in High Definition

AUCKLAND October 14, 2009: Microsoft has announced the release of the LifeCam Cinema. The LifeCam Cinema makes it easier than ever to capture and share life’s important moments. Thanks to the 720p widescreen sensor, you’ll be able to broadcast and share high quality, clear videos that won’t leave anyone out of the shot.

With widescreen technology common place and more than 10 million videos being uploaded each month to Facebook alone(1) there has never been a better time to get online to share home videos with family and friends.

“The inspiration for the LifeCam Cinema came from the realisation that new computer displays were predominantly widescreen. We also examined the various environments where people use their webcams and how they were using them,” said Danica Aitken, Category Marketing Manager, Internet Communications Hardware, Microsoft ANZ. “The LifeCam Cinema supports our findings and the future direction of social networking and provides a great way to keep in touch with family and friends.”

Work it like a movie star in virtually any light
The LifeCam Cinema was created to deliver a movie like experience with great high-definition (HD) video and clear audio. Because life doesn’t happen on a movie set, Microsoft have developed an in common indoor setting (low-light situations) which enables you to experience great video quality, even in tough lighting situations. Maintaining a high frame rate even in low lighting, LifeCam Cinema helps ensure that you look well-lit and that video remains smooth.

Clear, fast, wide
As the only PC consumer webcam on the market today with a native 720p sensor that delivers widescreen video capture at 16:9, (2) the LifeCam Cinema provides 720p high-definition video and features Auto Focus to keep video sharp from across the room all the way up to 4 inches from the webcam.

Microsoft’s ClearFrame Technology offers fast image processing technology to help deliver smooth video at any resolution. It also has improved noise reduction technology to reduce image graininess and keep video sharp.

The LifeCam Cinema webcam’s widescreen technology allows the widest angle of capture ever for a Microsoft webcam, at 74 degrees — you don’t have to worry about leaving anything out of the shot again.

Easily edit and share your videos
Two new features in Windows Live now make it easier for LifeCam Cinema users to edit and share their HD video and quality still photos.
• Windows Live Movie Maker is new and now available with HD support. You can now easily turn photos and video memories into extraordinary movies and upload them to popular sharing sites such as YouTube and Facebook with one click.
• Windows Live Photo Gallery enables you to easily upload a photo to edit, tag and share with friends and family.
