International speakers confirmed for upcoming broadband summit

21 October 2009: An impressive line up of international speakers will feature at the Korea Australia New Zealand (KANZ) Broadband Summit: Digital Futures in Auckland early next month.

Keynote speakers Adam Smith, Google’s Enterprise Sales Manager Asia Pacific and Sidhe Interactive Managing Director and co-founder Mario Wynands will be joined by more than 50 speakers from a range of Korean, Australian and New Zealand companies, research organisations and policy and regulatory agencies.

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise’s Director ICT/Creative/Services Hans Frauenlob says that the Summit, which will be held in Auckland on 4 and 5 November, combines both commercially focused as well as policy sessions.

“KANZ offers a hugely varied range of topics – from infrastructure and development to digital content, multimedia and gaming; cyber safety and security to copyright issues; mobile applications to e-health, and ‘green’ ICT to broadband enabled experiences.

“We are thrilled to have such a strong line up of speakers from all three countries who will cover the full ambit of broadband enabled and digital related applications, technology and services.”

Mr Frauenlob says that the Summit provides delegates with the opportunity to hear more about how other countries are rolling out ultra high speed broadband infrastructure, and how companies both in New Zealand and overseas are embracing the digital economy, and leading innovation and technology.

“Companies looking to enter the Korean or Australian broadband related markets or those already doing business in these markets will benefit from participating in the Summit, and networking with others within the ICT and digital industries.

“KANZ will also provide a forum for the three countries to strengthen wider trade relationships, and to explore the ways in which we can work more closely on broadband infrastructure, digital technology, and new business opportunities,” Mr Frauenlob says.

The Summit will be chaired by Brett O’Riley CEO of the NZICT Group, which represents the supply side of the ICT industry, and Rob Spray CEO of the Telecommunications Industry Group.

·         Diane Holland, CEO, Massive Software (New Zealand)

·         Geoff Hunt, CEO, Kordia (New Zealand)

·         Craig Meek, CEO and founder, Futuretech (New Zealand)

·         Adam Good, Executive Director Digital Innovation, Clemenger Group (New Zealand)

·         Representatives from regulatory and policy agencies in all three countries including the Australian Department for Communications, Broadband and the Digital Economy; the Korea Communications Commission; the Korea Internet Security Agency and the Ministry of Economic Development.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Hon Steven Joyce will officially open the Summit and Australian Minister for Communications and Broadband Senator Stephen Conroy and Chair of the Korea Communications Commission Mr Choi See-Joong will both be attending.

The KANZ Broadband Summit will be held at the Sky City Convention Centre in Auckland on 4 and 5 November 2009. It is being organised by the Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise.
