MedRecruit named fastest growing Business Services Business in New Zealand in Deloitte Fast 50
While the economy might be flat-lining, medical recruitment company, MedRecruit, is in excellent health and has been named the Fastest Growing Business Services Business in New Zealand, and the second fastest growing business overall in the country in the 2009 Deloitte Fast 50.
The Queenstown based medical recruitment company was started by 30 year old Dr Sam Hazledine and is his first business. It provides locum and permanent doctors for hospitals around New Zealand and Australia was recognised along with other fast-growing Otago businesses at the Dunedin Public Art Gallery last night.
Deloitte partner Mike Horne says the Fast 50 is into its 9th year and highlighted both established and emerging high-growth companies across New Zealand.
“MedRecruit is an example of a relative newcomer on the scene that has experienced explosive growth over the past three years. They’re on the list because Sam and his team are totally dedicated to MedRecruit’s success and their focus on innovation, clever technology and great service has seen their young business already achieve some brilliant things. MedRecruit should be very proud of its achievements – the company is now firmly on the map as one to watch on the local and national business scene.”
MedRecruit’s managing director, Dr Sam Hazledine, says understanding its customers and providing them with what they need is the simple key to MedRecruit’s success.
“I’m stoked that MedRecruit has been recognised as the fastest growing Business Services Business in New Zealand. What I‘m even more pleased about is the fact that our explosive growth is testament to the fact we are delivering on our vision to improve the lives of all doctors in Australasia.
“Not only are we assisting doctors to create life on their own terms, but we are also rewarding them and making them feel valued which is something many doctors don't experience on a day-to-day basis”, Dr Hazledine says.
MedRecruit has grown revenue by 857% in the past three years and now operates with 10 staff. It is the only medical recruitment company ever to be named in the Deloitte Fast 50.
Dr Hazledine set up MedRecruit in 2006 after practising medicine for three years in New Zealand and Australia and says although he enjoys being a doctor, his passion is business.
“To win in business you must be constantly innovating and predicting what the customers want before they even know it, and you’ve got to be marketing this effectively to your customers. All this has to be underpinned with systems to make the business replicable and scalable.
“Gone are the days when businesses could succeed despite themselves, now it's survival of the fittest and only the best businesses will survive”, he says.
Dr Hazledine says for a business to be successful it’s imperative to have a quality team and gives credit to everyone at MedRecruit who “makes the magic happen” on a daily basis.
