King Salmon appoints new chief executive

New Zealand King Salmon announces the appointment of Grant Rosewarne as its new chief executive.

He succeeds Paul Steere who recently announced his intention to pursue other business interests after 15 years strong stewardship at NZ King Salmon, said chairman Tom Sturgess.

Mr Rosewarne is a successful business leader with an excellent track record of profitable growth and market leading innovation in the consumer goods sector. He has had significant international experience in Britain, Europe and Australasia.

He comes to New Zealand King Salmon after a very successful career with Sara Lee Corporation where he ultimately achieved the position of chairman of the UK and Ireland.

Mr Rosewarne was instrumental in the market success in Australasia of the ‘Moccona’ coffee brand and in the United Kingdom for the successful launch of ‘Senseo’ Coffee Machines and Pods (together with Philips Appliances).

His early career was spent with Unilever Australia where he started in production management and quality assurance roles before moving into brand management in the ‘Flora’ margarine business – where he was responsible for building Unilever’s portfolio of ‘Heart Health’ products.

Mr Rosewarne has a very strong understanding of the Australian food and grocery industry. He has also been the chairman of the British Coffee Association. He enjoys a reputation within Sara Lee for leadership, innovation and successful brand building.

Mr Rosewarne is looking forward to the opportunity of joining a market leading New Zealand business with outstanding international opportunities for its differentiated and value added salmon products.

The Board looks to Mr Rosewarne’s leadership and skills continuing the excellent growth record achieved by the King Salmon team and to welcoming him in the second half of November, said Mr Sturgess.

Mr Rosewarne is married with three children and will be moving to Nelson with his family.
