Adventure tourism leader Dart River Jet Safaris
revealed its community heart this weekend generating several
thousand dollars toward a local community fundraising
project.
The company held a ‘Locals Day’ yesterday
(Sunday November 8) to help raise funds for a new roof
needed for the Glenorchy Community Pool.
And after
reducing prices on its afternoon Wilderness Safari trips
from $199 per adult and $99 per child to $50 and $25
respectively, they were delighted to raise more than $3,000
towards the estimated $25,000 required for the new
roof.
“We wanted to give local people the chance to
experience the full three-hour Wilderness Safari which
includes a spectacular jet boat ride, short bush walk and a
backroad tour through the beautiful Paradise area,” said
Dart River Jet Safaris manager Andy Chapman.
“We
were really pleased with the numbers of locals who rang and
booked, so much so that we opened up more capacity to cope
with the numbers. And we were thrilled that the weather
really turned it on with blue skies, warm temperatures and
plenty of snow still sitting on the mountains so everyone
enjoyed a great afternoon out.
“But most of all
we’re really pleased that all the funds raised are going
toward a worthwhile community project in Glenorchy, which
has been ‘home’ to our operations base for some 22
years.”
Glenorchy resident Ann-Marie Contrucci, a
spokesperson for the Glenorchy Community Association and
the Swimming Pool Committee, said she was “very excited”
to receive the first sizeable sum raised towards the
project.
“We’re so lucky that Dart River Jet
Safaris supports the community in lots of different ways and
this is a great boost towards getting a new roof for the
pool,” she said.
“The pool is a valuable community
asset that’s used by locals and visitors, so we can’t
thank Dart River Jet Safaris enough for their help, not only
for this but for their recent help with running
costs.”
The exact amount raised was
$3,150.
