ChCh Foodstuffs workers strike again - today

Christchurch Foodstuffs distribution centre workers are again striking in protest at the lack of progress in their negotiations.

They are progressively stopping work at Hornby and Papanui DC sites this afternoon and protesting outside Foodstuffs South Island board member Stephen Boock’s Pak n Save supermarket in Northlands shopping centre.

Southern Regional Secretary Paul Watson said:

“After 8 months of bargaining the company have failed to improve through negotiation the collective employment agreement."

"They have instead chosen to drip-feed wages and bonuses at their discretion which over the years has not delivered a decent living wage and has put our members well behind the weekly wages of members employed by Foodstuffs' main supermarket competitor Progressive Enterprises," he said.
