LIFE Education Trust Gets Donation From Lockwood

Press Release
30 November 2009

LIFE Education Trust Gets a Huge Cash Donation Thanks to Lockwood

Life Education Trust received a $108,000 donation yesterday following the sale of a brand new two bedroom Lockwood home, which was built in 32 hours and put up for auction for the charity with a $1 reserve.

Some 25 Lockwood builders from all over the country worked tirelessly around the clock to get the two bedroom home complete in time for yesterdays Charity auction. In just 32 hours the house was built and then went immediately under the auctioneers hammer with a $1 reserve. According to Lockwood CEO, Bryce Heard, it was a bidding war with over 30 registered bidders taking part.

The successful bidder was Tom Walters from Rotorua who plans to have his new home relocated to Mamaku.

The sale price of $108, 000 is being donated by Lockwood and partners to the Life Education Trust, a not-for-profit organisation that educates children on making decisions that lead to a healthy lifestyle.

Lady Kuia Morrison, wife of the late Sir Howard Morrison, is a patron of the Life Education Trust and commented on the great success of the event and how it was a really heart warming experience.

“It was such an incredible initiative by Lockwood with so many generous people involved, from the builders who gave their time and worked tirelessly to get the house complete for the auction to all the suppliers who so kindly donated products and services so we had a great house package to auction off.
The money raised is going to significantly help Life Education Trust and enable us to give Kiwi kids guidance on how to live a better and more healthy life,”

Lockwood CEO, Bryce Heard, said: “It has been a tremendous weekend!
Mr. Walters not only has a great new home but he has the added feel-good-factor of knowing his money went to a great Kiwi Charity – the Life Education Trust. I’m really proud of the team at Lockwood who have put in so much hard work and their time into making the weekend such a success.

“We had a great crowd of people really interested in building a new home visit the Expo, which is really encouraging and is a good boost of confidence for the house building industry,” added Bryce.
