Christchurch Company Gets InternationaL Contract

Christchurch Software Company Secures International Contract With Buzan Online

CHRISTCHURCH, January 14, 2010 – Christchurch based educational software company Visual Pronunciation Software, has just announced a seven figure contract with internationally renowned Mind Mapping software company Buzan Online.

The software publishing company of world leading Mind Mapping expert Tony Buzan, Buzan Online last month finalised a deal with Visual Pronunciation Software. Indicating their interest in using speech recognition technology as part of new software their company is developing, they approached managing director Thor Russell earlier this year. “Buzan Online wanted to license our technology for use in software products teaching up to 35 different languages,” says Thor. “By securing this contract, we have further enhanced our international reputation and expect to see accelerated growth offshore as a result. We’re also delighted to have an endorsement from the world’s leading brain and learning expert.” If everything goes according to plan, the contract will be worth seven figures over the lifetime of the agreement.

Established in 2003, Visual Pronunciation Software has successfully developed world leading online English learning programmes, which improve both the listening and speaking skills of those keen to learn. The core speech recognition technology, which analyses learners’ speech, also provides detailed feedback to help progress the user’s communication skills. Published as EyeSpeak, the software is also available for learning New Zealand Maori. Visual Pronunciation Software is currently based at the Powerhouse Ventures Incubator in Christchurch.
