Natural Products Industry Set to Recognise Its Leaders
The 2010 Natural Products New Zealand Industry Awards are now open for nominations. The awards will be held on 22 April in Nelson at the Industry’s Summit.
The awards recognise companies in the natural products industry who have excelled in export, marketing, science and technology and an overall outstanding contribution to the sector in New Zealand for the year July 2008 – June 2009.
This is the fourth annual industry awards and the sector continues to grow, with the natural products industry worth over $760 million to New Zealand’s economy annually.
“Recognising the people and companies who are breaking new ground is an important part of developing this industry even further,” says Michelle Palmer, Executive Director of Natural Products New Zealand.
Previous winners include Lifestream International Limited, Exporter of the Year 2009 and winner of the Excellence in Marketing Award in 2008; Vitaco’s Balance Sports Nutrition received the James and Wells Intellectual Property Excellence in Marketing Award last year and ENZO Nutraceuticals was awarded 2009’s Cawthron Innovation in Science and Technology Award.
Lifestream have been particularly successful at past NPNZ Awards, winning Excellence in Marketing in 2007 and being named Exporter of the Year in 2008.
Harvie Graham, International Sales and Export Manager at Lifestream says the awards have given the company a lot of credibility with offshore distributors and at a local level. “The fact that we are an award winning company gives confidence to distributors – some even promote the NPNZ Awards we have won on their own websites.
These awards have helped us generate new business as well,” says Harvie. “New clients are very responsive to the fact we are an award winning company in New Zealand and regard these credentials very highly indeed.
Winning the awards has had a marked impact on our staff,” continues Harvie. “They feel proud to have had their work recognised at this level.”
The scale of the awards has increased each year demonstrating consumer demand for natural health solutions is strong both in New Zealand and in global markets.
The Natural Products New Zealand Industry Awards are supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise; James and Wells Intellectual Property and Cawthorn.
